    How Rung works

    Rung is a math tutor for grades 6 and 7, built for ratios and proportions. It never just hands over the answer. Each time you ask for help, you climb one rung:

    1. Nudge. A question that points you in the right direction.
    2. Hint. Help aimed at the mistake you probably made.
    3. Example. A similar problem solved step by step, with different numbers.
    4. Walkthrough. Your problem, step by step. Then you get a fresh one to try yourself.

    Code checks the math, not the AI. Every answer is checked with exact arithmetic. When you get one wrong, Rung matches it to common ratio mistakes from math education research and aims the next hint at that mistake.

    The skill map estimates how well you know each skill using Bayesian Knowledge Tracing, a standard method from tutoring research. Rung gives you problems from your weakest skill that's ready for you.

    Privacy. No accounts and no names. Your progress is saved only in this browser. Messages go to the AI to write hints and aren't stored by Rung.
